Part-Time Seamstress – Custom Drapery Workroom

Zona's Drapery Studio is a high-end custom drapery workroom serving interior designers throughout the Des Moines metro. We specialize in handcrafted window treatments, bedding, pillows, and soft furnishings, with a strong focus on quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
We're looking for a detail-oriented seamstress to join our team on a flexible, part-time basis. This role will primarily focus on constructing custom decorative pillows and draperies while helping us maintain the exceptional quality our clients expect.
What You'll Do
- Sew custom throw pillows, including self-welt and standard welt finishes
- Cut fabric and match patterns with precision
- Follow cut lists and production specifications
- Inspect finished pieces to ensure they meet our quality standards
- Maintain an organized, clean work area
Schedule
This position offers flexible, variable hours based on our production schedule. We're generally looking for help on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, though we're happy to adjust those hours for the right candidate.
Because our workload changes from week to week, hours may increase, decrease, or occasionally include an additional day. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible part-time work rather than guaranteed weekly hours.
What We're Looking For
- Previous sewing experience is required
- Experience with decorative pillows, drapery, upholstery, or home décor sewing is a plus
- Comfortable using an industrial sewing machine (or willing to learn)
- Excellent attention to detail and pattern matching
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Good communication regarding weekly availability
