Job Overview
We are looking for an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Sales Associate / Counter Help team member to join our fast-paced soup and salad restaurant. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, providing excellent customer service, and being part of a hands-on team environment.
As a Sales Associate / Counter Help team member, you will assist with the daily operation of the restaurant by serving customers, operating the POS system, assisting with hot food bar items, maintaining and restocking the salad bar, and keeping the restaurant clean and organized.
Our ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable staying productive during busy periods. This position reports directly to the Store Manager and will be expected to assist with additional duties as assigned based on the needs of the business.
Duties
- Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Provide fast, accurate, and courteous customer service.
- Operate the POS system and accurately process cash, credit card, and other customer transactions.
- Assist customers with menu questions and provide information about available soups, salads, toppings, proteins, dressings, and other menu items.
- Serve customers items from the hot food bar while following proper portioning, handling, and food-safety procedures.
- Monitor, restock, and maintain the salad bar throughout the shift to ensure items are fresh, properly presented, and readily available for customers.
- Restock soups, toppings, dressings, utensils, napkins, containers, beverages, condiments, and other restaurant supplies as needed.
- Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, portioning, and freshness.
- Monitor food temperatures and follow proper product rotation, labeling, storage, and food-handling procedures.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, health department, and workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready restaurant throughout the shift.
- Clean and sanitize counters, tables, service areas, salad bar areas, equipment, and other surfaces as required.
- Keep dining areas clean by wiping tables, removing trash, sweeping, mopping, and completing other cleaning duties as needed.
- Assist with opening, closing, and shift-related duties as assigned.
- Receive, organize, and restock restaurant supplies and food products when needed.
- Notify the Store Manager when products or supplies are running low or when food quality, equipment, maintenance, or customer concerns arise.
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally and involve the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers to maintain efficient service during busy periods.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and instructions provided by the Store Manager.
- Complete additional cleaning, stocking, food-service, customer-service, or operational duties at the discretion and direction of the Store Manager based on the needs of the restaurant.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, food-service, retail, cashier, deli, café, or customer-service experience is preferred but not required.
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the direction of the Store Manager.
- Comfortable operating or learning a POS system and handling customer transactions.
- Basic cash-handling and math skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently when necessary while also being a reliable member of the team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food presentation.
- Willingness to learn and follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to stay productive during slower periods by cleaning, stocking, organizing, and completing assigned tasks.
- Food Handler or ServSafe certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification if required.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, and perform normal restaurant duties.
- Ability to safely handle restaurant supplies, food products, and equipment.
- Ability to work around hot foods and restaurant equipment while following appropriate safety procedures.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

You will provide customers with excellent service, accurately operate the POS system, keep food and service areas stocked and presentable, maintain a clean restaurant, and work closely with the Store Manager and other team members to keep daily operations running smoothly.
