To provide direct care to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with the facility policies and procedures.
CNA Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist residents with personal care functions, including:
Bathing
Dental and mouth care
Dressing and grooming
Hair care
Nail care
Shaving
Bowel and bladder care
Other personal and hygiene care
Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents
Respond to call bells in a timely fashion
Promote autonomy of residents in decision-making
Assist moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of bed, chairs, bathtubs, wheel chairs, lifts, etc.
Assist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training
Provide range of motion exercises as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training
Observe standard precautions per organizational policy and procedures
Actively participate in organization-wide staff committees, as neededQA/PI- Quality Assurance Performance Improvement
Attend and participate in resident care plan meeting
Report incidents/accidents of any nature immediately to supervisor
Report changes in resident’s condition to the Nurse
Maintain confidential information of all residents and community
Attend and complete all in-services
Conduct resident rounds as needed
Treat all residents with respect and dignity
Assume accountability for data contained in Employee Handbook
Come to work in a neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriately professional appearance
Ability to understand and comply with Federal, State and local regulations and requirements
Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner
Listen to resident and family concerns/complaints and report to appropriate staff
Participate in the implementation of the individualized plan of care of assigned residents.
Assure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service areas.
Identify safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiate corrective actions
Small Home Responsibilities:
Answer call bells and assists resident when possible and when not able to perform tasks ensures resident needs are communicated to those who can assist and render care.
Keep all areas of the home clean and tidy
Assist with meal service and clean up
Participate in Shift Huddles to communicate with teammates
Assist residents with attending activities and functions in the small home, throughout the community and/or at the residents leisure
Engage all members of the home (residents, guests, care partners) in meaningful interactions (i.e. simple pleasures).
Assist in welcoming and orienting new Residents
Report changes in Residents mental or physical condition, social behavior, and emotional or physical needs to the Nurse.
Distribute mail, read mail to Residents, and post cards in rooms or residents choice
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current valid certification of Nursing Assistant issued by the State of NJ
Must have a genuine interest and desire to work with the senior population
Must be outgoing and friendly
Must be physically capable of participating in and conducting semi-active programs.
Must be willing to learn therapeutic activities.
Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changes in the program.
