The Buyer is responsible for purchasing goods, materials or services needed by the organization to operate and produce quality products in a timely manner. The Buyer is also responsible for evaluating suppliers, negotiating price and contracts, while ensuring inventory arrives on time and within budget.
- Review raw material planning reports for assigned supply categories and determine if orders need to be placed or existing orders adjusted for supplies.
- Make necessary adjustments to systems to gain appropriate approvals and send them off to suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels and make adjustments as necessary in order to make sure we have the right amount of inventory on hand, or in order, to meet production needs.
- Resolve invoicing issues.
- Partner with Research and Development with the sourcing of new supplies and/or new ingredients as needed.
- Review inventory positions and production plans of assigned categories.
- Make recommendations to the suppliers concerning order placement and/or order adjustments.
- Provide forecasts to the suppliers weekly.
- Provide documents/information to the quality department.
- Actively participate in the commercialization process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of supply chain is preferred.
- Skills: Must have excellent written and verbal communications along with customer service skills. Ability to problem solve. Must have computer skills to communicate and process data.
- Age: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
- Education: Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent is preferred.
- Flexibility: Must be able to work weekends as needed. Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Compliance: Must practice good personal hygiene. Candidates must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug test, background screen, physical and E-Verify.
