Function: The Teacher’s Assistant will support lead teachers by supervising students, managing administrative/procedural tasks, and ensuring the Learning Center environment is safe and organized. He/she will serve as substitute teacher during teacher absences and may provide one-on-one or small-group instruction when needed.
Requirements: Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ required. Must be a self-starter who enjoys and works well with others from a diverse background. Good communication and organizational skills are also required. Some college required (or commensurate work experience). Prior teaching/ classroom experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with daily student arrival and departure procedures
- Acting as substitute teacher when teacher absences occur
- Providing small group instruction when needed due to tutor shortages
- Supervising and investing relationally in students during academics, recreation, and transportation
- Monitoring student safety during recess time
- Performing various administrative and program related tasks
- Participating in fund development and special events for the organization
Additional considerations:
- This is a 20 hr/wk Part Time position, with potential to advance for the right person
- Prefer someone with a good driving record who will be comfortable driving students in mini bus from school to the learning center daily and on field trips (training provided)
- Must be able to pass all required background checks and required safety/CPR trainings
- Position is directly responsible to the Program Director
- Typical hours are 2pm-6pm during the school year. Summer hours TBD, but may be flexible
