Position Title: Child Care Counselor II
Grade: On-Call (hourly/non-exempt)
Program: Eggleston Short-Term Residential Treatment Program (ESTRTP)
Reports To: Facility Administrator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Child Care Counselor 2 has the overall responsibility of providing structure, supervision and counseling of placed youth.
DUTIES:
1. May act as Facility Manager upon completion of required training
2. Supervise youth and make constant thirty (30) minutes room checks
3. Make constant hourly grounds security checks
4. Prepare all required paper work (i.e. population count sheets, room assignments, incentive sheets for merit ladder, and all other related paperwork)
5. Respond to all noise or unusual incidents
6. Awaken youth for their daily activities and school
7. Supervise chores
8. Complete required hour of annual staff trainings (40); maintains active CPR/First Aid and ProAct certifications
9. Participate in team meetings
10. Work weekends, as required
11. Enforce all medication procedures
12. Enforce home-pass and visitation procedures
13. Enforce all rules and policies of the program
14. Supervise the serving of meals and snacks
15. Write behavior and special incident reports
16. Orientate new youth to the rules, regulations, and policies of the program
17. Provide visual supervision of youth requiring special one- on- one supervision
18. Ensure the facility is clean and ready for inspection at all times and also inspect it for any damages
19. Transport youth in their personal or agency vehicle
20. Maintain a valid class C California Driver’s License (or B driver’s license, as required)
21. Conduct daily agency vehicle inspections and complete vehicle inspection reports
22. Enforce Title 22 regulations
23. Participate in peer reviews
24. Participate in agency/program performance and quality improvement projects
25. Adhere to agency safety protocols.
26. Perform other duties as prescribed by supervisor
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must meet one of the following:
a. Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree or
b. Two years of experience as a staff or volunteer at a group home or STRTP
2. Ability to work with a culturally diverse clientele and staff
3. Valid California Driver’s License and insurable driving record
4. Successful completion of a physical exam, TB test, and toxicology screen for substances
5. Criminal record and child abuse clearances
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Must have the visual, physical and technical ability to independently operate a variety of office equipment including the use of a computer.
2. Must be capable of bending, stooping, filing, lifting of at least 25 lbs. and able to interrupt physical altercations.
3. Must have the ability to verbally communicate well with others
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS:
1. Interfaces with all levels of management, staff, clients and families including partner agencies.
Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
