T&M Commercial Mechanical Contractors (TMM Contractors) is a minority-owned commercial HVAC and mechanical contracting company serving Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. We work on government facilities, affordable housing communities, institutional buildings, and commercial properties with a $1.27M+ documented portfolio that includes cooling tower installations, DOAS systems, multi-unit HVAC replacements, and ductwork upgrades. We are adding installers to support active and incoming project work.
THE ROLE
We are hiring a Commercial HVAC Installer to work on active job sites not service calls. This role is project-based: new equipment installations, system replacements, ductwork, piping, and mechanical retrofits on commercial and multi-family properties. You will work under the direction of our project leads and COO on scoped jobs with defined timelines and deliverables. This is installation and construction-side work, not dispatch-and-repair.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Install commercial HVAC equipment rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, air handlers, VRF systems, and related mechanical components
- Perform ductwork fabrication, installation, modification, and connection on commercial and multi-family projects
- Install refrigerant line sets, electrical connections, and system controls under applicable codes
- Support equipment rigging and crane coordination on rooftop equipment placements
- Perform startup, commissioning, and integration checks on newly installed systems
- Work safely in occupied facilities phased installation, dust and debris control, tenant coordination protocols
- Document daily progress, material usage, and any scope deviations for project management review
- Follow OSHA and site-specific safety plans on every project
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- EPA 608 Certification — required
- 3+ years of commercial HVAC installation experience (multi-family, institutional, or commercial — not primarily residential)
- Proficiency with ductwork installation, refrigerant line sets, and equipment startup procedures
- Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and installation specifications
- Physically capable of working at heights, lifting 50+ lbs, and operating in mechanical rooms and rooftop environments
- Clean driving record company vehicle provided
- Ability to pass a background check (required for access to government and institutional job sites)
PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED)
- Experience on occupied retrofit projects in multi-family or government buildings
- Crane or rigging experience for rooftop equipment placement
- Carrier, Daikin, Mitsubishi, or Trane installation experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card
Schedule: Monday–Friday project schedule; hours tied to active project timelines
Overtime: Available on active projects compensated accordingly
Tools: Company provides major tools and equipment; personal hand tools expected
Growth: Direct path to Project Lead and Field Supervisor as T&M scales its project volume we promote from the field

Pay: $65,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
