Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated Back End Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas. This is an onsite position requiring regular attendance at our Austin office. Remote work is not available for this role.
The Back End Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems that power our applications. The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and thrives in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, including product, front-end development, quality assurance, and operations, this role will build reliable APIs, services, and data solutions that support business objectives and deliver exceptional user experiences.
Duties
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend applications and services.
- Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Develop secure, maintainable, and high-quality code following engineering best practices.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Design, develop, and maintain relational and NoSQL database solutions.
- Integrate third-party APIs and internal systems.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical planning.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Write automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Participate in peer code reviews and provide technical guidance when appropriate.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Operations to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
- Monitor application health using logging and observability tools.
- Document technical designs, APIs, and development processes.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of company systems and proprietary information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Three (3) or more years of professional backend software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages, including Java, C#, Python, Go (Golang), or Node.js/TypeScript.
- Experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
- Experience using Git version control.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile development methodologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
