Job Summary
Eagle Roofing Products is seeking a detail-oriented Industrial Drafting/CAD Technician to review, verify, create, and maintain accurate facility, equipment, and process drawings. This position is responsible for ensuring all plant documentation reflects actual field conditions and supports safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting, CAD technology, industrial environments, and technical documentation. This role requires frequent collaboration with maintenance and operations teams, as well as field verification of equipment and facility layouts throughout the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review existing facility, equipment, and process drawings created in Microsoft Visio and other formats.
- Conduct field inspections to verify equipment configurations, plant layouts, and process documentation.
- Compare existing drawings to actual field conditions and identify discrepancies.
- Create, update, revise, and maintain CAD drawings and technical documentation.
- Convert Microsoft Visio drawings into accurate CAD drawings.
- Maintain drawing standards, revision control processes, and documentation records.
- Work closely with maintenance and operations personnel to gather and verify information.
- Ensure all drawings comply with company standards and applicable industry requirements.
- Communicate project updates, special instructions, and directives professionally and effectively.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by maintaining accurate facility and equipment records.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and understand English documents, reports, and checklists.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
- Experience working in industrial manufacturing, processing plants, or heavy industrial environments.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and facility layouts.
- Experience collecting and documenting field measurements and equipment information.
Work Environment
This position combines office-based drafting work with hands-on field verification in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Working conditions include:
- Regular exposure to heavy machinery and production equipment.
- Frequent walking throughout plant operations and production areas.
- Indoor facility that is not climate controlled.
- Exposure to dust, cement, sand, noise, and other industrial conditions.
- Occasional outdoor work near conveyor systems and equipment.
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs.
- Ability to work day or night shifts as assigned.
- On-call responsibilities may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, reach, and work around industrial equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to perform field measurements and inspections in active production environments.
- Ability to hear machine alarms, warning signals, and forklift horns above ambient noise levels.
- Full use of hands, arms, legs, and mobility necessary to perform job duties safely.
