The Role:
- Lead small group training sessions: Coach groups with a max 1:8 coach:trainee ratio, providing individualized attention to ensure proper form and progress.
- Design personalized programs: Create tailored training programs using the Starting Strength method, guaranteeing continuous, measurable strength gains.
- Foster a supportive environment: Build camaraderie and trust among members who are serious about their goals and value your expertise.
- Uphold elite standards: Maintain the premium experience that sets Starting Strength Gyms apart.
- Grow as a coach: Continuously refine your skills with ongoing development as a strength coach.
Your job is 80%+ coaching—demonstrating competence, kindness, and a commitment to helping members succeed during small group training sessions.
Requirements:
- Strong customer service background, ideally in fitness, hospitality, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for helping others achieve their goals.
- Willingness to complete Starting Strength training and development including maintaining your own training in barbell lifts.
- Coaches are expected to effectively use the technology and communication tools that support our coaching and client experience, including client management software and social media platforms. Coaches should be willing and able to learn new systems, follow established processes, and use these tools consistently as part of their role. The role can also include some operational, marketing, and educational duties, if desired, for additional pay.
- Availability 4PM-8PM M-F and 7AM-1PM every other Saturday with opportunities for more hours as needed. Minimum hours for Part-Time Coach: 15 per week.
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive pay: Earn $23-27 per hour ($23/hr training, $25-27/hr independent SSC-track, $30/hr SSC-certified, plus per-event bonuses $50/30 minute session, $100 for trial-to-membership conversion, online coaching 50/50 split, with more opportunities for advancement depending on goals and drive)
Professional Development:
- Free Starting Strength Coach (SSC) Prep Course conducted online or Coaching Academy training.
- One free Starting Strength Seminar in Wichita Falls, TX (value of up to $1500 including travel and accommodation).
- Paid weekly coach development and programming support
- Safety Certification: Free CPR/FirstAid/AED training and renewals
