Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Elementary Physical Education Teacher to inspire young students to develop a lifelong love for movement, health, and wellness. The building assignments for the 2026-2027 school term are Franklin Elementary, Lafayette Elementary & Menallen Elementary Schools.
Duties
- Plan and deliver comprehensive physical education lessons aligned with curriculum standards, emphasizing motor skills, coordination, and fitness
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation from all students, including those with special needs
- Incorporate learning technology and interactive tools to enhance lesson engagement and understanding
- Assess student progress regularly through observation, standardized testing, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to support holistic student development
- Develop tailored lesson plans that integrate literacy education, math concepts, and behavioral management strategies within physical activities
- Mentor students on healthy habits, sportsmanship, and teamwork while fostering confidence and self-esteem
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching physical education at the elementary level or working with children in childcare or early childhood settings
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain an organized and positive learning environment
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, including working with individuals with autism or those requiring early intervention strategies
- Ability to develop curriculum that incorporates literacy education, math integration, and library services when applicable
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures related to physical education or overall student assessment
- Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, behavior management, and working with children of diverse backgrounds
- Certification in early childhood education or equivalent credentials preferred; Montessori or private school experience is a plus
- Skills in proofreading, writing skills for documentation and reports, and familiarity with learning technology tools are advantageous
