Position Purpose
The Service Supervisor is responsible for supporting front-end operations and ensuring an exceptional customer experience throughout the store. This position provides leadership to cashiers, courtesy clerks, service desk associates, and other front-end team members while maintaining operational efficiency, service excellence, cash accountability, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Store Support
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customer questions, concerns, and service recovery situations.
- Ensure customers receive prompt, friendly, and efficient service at all times.
- Monitor checkout operations to minimize wait times and improve customer satisfaction.
- Support service desk functions, including returns, exchanges, refunds, and store programs as applicable.
- Assist with store-wide customer service initiatives and special events.
Front-End Operations
- Oversee daily front-end activities to ensure efficient operations.
- Monitor cashier productivity, lane coverage, and customer traffic flow.
- Coordinate break schedules and staffing assignments to support business needs.
- Ensure checkout lanes, service areas, and front-end workstations remain organized and operational.
- Support implementation of company promotions, loyalty programs, and operational initiatives.
- Assist with opening, closing, and shift transition procedures.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, train, coach, and develop front-end associates.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support to help associates improve performance.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Assist with onboarding and training new associates.
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
- Lead front-end operations in the absence of higher-level management when assigned.
Cash Handling & Asset Protection
- Support cash accountability and front-end financial controls.
- Perform register audits, cash pickups, and cash reconciliation activities as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with company cash-handling procedures.
- Monitor front-end operations for potential theft, fraud, or policy violations.
- Report operational concerns, shortages, or discrepancies to management.
- Support loss prevention and shrink reduction initiatives.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Monitor front-end activities to ensure regulatory and company requirements are met.
- Promote a safe environment for customers and associates.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and customer incidents.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and incident records accurately.
- Participate in operational audits and corrective action initiatives as needed.
Communication & Operational Excellence
- Communicate operational priorities and service expectations to associates.
- Partner with department managers and store leadership to support overall store goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Assist with execution of store programs, sales initiatives, and service standards.
- Support a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
