As the dedicated LBS1 teacher for this autism program, you’ll employ creative instructional strategies tailored to each child’s unique needs. Your expertise and compassion will foster a supportive, structured environment, helping students build foundational skills and greater independence.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement required
- Autism endorsement or significant experience working with students on the autism spectrum strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to adapt curricula and instructional approaches to individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Passion for supporting students with diverse needs in a specialized setting
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and implementing individualized lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP goals
- Utilizing evidence-based practices for students with autism in a small, structured classroom setting
- Maintaining accurate records, data collection, and progress monitoring for each student
- Collaborating regularly with multidisciplinary teams, including related service providers and families
- Providing guidance and support for paraprofessionals in the classroom
- Fostering a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment
