Cafe Barista Job Description
Job Summary:
The Cafe Barista and Worker is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, and food items, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires a passion for coffee and food, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, following standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of food items, following established recipes and guidelines.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, blenders, ovens, microwaves, and other kitchen equipment.
- Greet customers, take orders, and process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Provide information and recommendations about menu items, including coffee beans, brewing methods, and food pairings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, including the seating area, counter, kitchen, and storage areas.
- Restock supplies and inventory, ensuring all items are properly stored and readily available.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Clear and clean tables, counters, and other dining areas promptly.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the cafe area.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service and a positive customer experience.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a barista is REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso machine operation, and basic food preparation is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for operating equipment.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Projected Total Compensation: $14.50 - $15.00 per hour
