Guest Malach Eye Specialists is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician to join our growing team. We are a brand-new comprehensive ophthalmology practice opening in October 2026 and are committed to delivering exceptional patient care using modern technology in a welcoming environment.

As a new practice, every team member plays an important role in delivering exceptional patient care and helping the office operate efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for examination
- Obtain medical and ocular histories
- Measure visual acuity, pupils, confrontation visual fields, and intraocular pressure (tonometry)
- Instill dilating and diagnostic eye drops
- Assist physicians during comprehensive eye examinations as well as scribe
- Perform ophthalmic testing including OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, topography, pachymetry and other diagnostic testing
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintain cleanliness of clinic space including exam rooms, instruments, and clinical supplies
- Clean and disinfect equipment according to infection control standards
- Provide exceptional patient service while ensuring efficient clinic flow
- Provide administrative support including answering patient clinical phone calls and portal messages, completing prior authorizations, and responding to medication refill requests
- Coordinate patient care with pharmacies, primary care physicians, specialists, surgery centers, and insurance companies
- Assist with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and other administrative tasks as needed
- Cross-train and assist other team members as needed
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a medical setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude
- Comfortable learning new technology and software
Preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or higher certification
- Experience with cataract evaluations and surgical workups
- Experience using Optivate (formerly EyeMD) EMR
- Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
Schedule
- Full-time preferred
- Monday–Friday
