Job Summary
The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing quality counseling services to a variety of clients to include children, adolescents, and adults in an individual or family setting. Becker Counseling Services strives for excellence in care for all clients, and it is the responsibility of the Mental Health Counselor to deliver that care. The Mental Health Therapist will assess clients, develop care and treatment plans and deliver appropriate care to each client’s unique situation. This will include therapy on topics such as grief, substance abuse, depression, addiction, etc.
Essential Functions
· Complete bio-psycho-social assessments and determine the severity of risk and offer treatment recommendations for the appropriate level of care.
· Develop short-term and long-term individualized treatment goals that adhere to current standards and best practices.
· Collaborate with other staff on complicated or unique situations to define a course of action.
· Continuously keep up-to-date on community resources and services that may help in client treatment (e.g., in-patient and out-patient services, etc.)
· Assist in maintaining patient information to include demographics, insurance information and other records as necessary.
· Actively participate in clinical and peer supervision to ensure the quality of care and other client interactions are within the standards and guidelines of the practice.
· Maintain documentation of each client visit according to legal and ethical standards.
· Prioritize patient confidentiality and abide by all legal and ethical standards to include HIPAA compliance and informed consent.
· Assist in the promotion of Becker Counseling Services and act as a community representative of the practice.
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or related field is required.
· Minimum of a provisional license (PLMHP) required. Fully Licensed (LMHP, LIMHP, LCSW) preferred.
· One year of experience in the mental health field is preferred.
· Previous experience using an Electronic Health Record (HER) system (e.g., ICANotes, etc.) is preferred.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
· Proficient knowledge in treatment planning, therapeutic interventions and discharge planning is preferred.
· Ability to diagnose using DSM-V standards.
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work in a subdued office setting providing counseling to patients.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
