Duties
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems that include RF systems (VHF/UHF/800), network structure, and low-voltage electrical wiring.
- Perform cable terminations and testing to ensure optimal signal integrity across communication systems
- Set up and maintain networking equipment including routers, switches, repeaters and telecommunication hardware like combiners/duplexers.
- Conduct site surveys using diagnostic tools to assess system requirements and prepare detailed schematics for installation projects.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using specialized testing equipment such as Ohmmeters, telecommunications testers, and RF testers to identify faults quickly.
- Perform routine maintenance on telecommunication infrastructure to prevent outages and improve system performance.
- Collaborate directly with clients to deliver excellent customer service by explaining technical solutions clearly and ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunication systems installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of radio frequency (RF) testing techniques used in wireless communication setups.
- Proficiency in computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN setup, Ethernet cabling, network wiring, and network installation procedures.
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage troubleshooting.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical diagrams related to telecommunications wiring.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, electrical testers (Ohmmeters), and diagnostic equipment for precise system repairs.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems including NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and low-voltage wiring practices.
- Experience working with telecommunication testing equipment for network verification and performance analysis.
- Ability to perform cable termination on various cables including Cat5/Cat6 cables ensuring secure connections.
- Demonstrated service technician experience in installing or repairing data center or telecommunication infrastructure.
- Electrical experience related to AC/DC power systems necessary for maintaining reliable communication hardware operation.
