Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for transportation infrastructure projects
- Prepare and oversee plans, calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation
- Design miscellaneous transportation structures, including mast arms, overhead sign structures, strain pole systems for signals and overhead signs, custom drainage structures, boardwalks, foundations, and box culverts
- Support bridge and box culvert rehabilitation and repair design projects
- Coordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, utility, geotechnical, and survey teams throughout project development
- Conduct field reviews and assist with structural assessments as needed
- Perform quality control reviews to help maintain accuracy and consistency in deliverables
- Train and mentor junior engineering staff
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Support project management activities, including schedule coordination and technical oversight
- Assist with business development and marketing pursuits when needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structures
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida
- Minimum of two years of post-PE structural engineering experience
- Experience designing transportation-related structures, including traffic signal structures, overhead sign structures, retaining walls, bridge culverts, and bridge rehabilitation projects
- Familiarity with FDOT structures design criteria, manuals, and standards
- Experience supervising or mentoring engineering staff
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams
- Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenBridge Modeler, and related structural design software (ATLAS and Mathcad)
