Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal service to promote healthy eating habits
- Support residents in participating in social activities, community outings, and recreational programs to enhance their quality of life
- Administer medications following care plans and document medication administration accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and team members to develop and update personalized care plans that reflect each resident’s goals and needs
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings
- Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in behavior or health status promptly
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and active listening abilities
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of residents’ information
- Competence in assisting residents with ADLs such as grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility support
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies by applying first aid or CPR when needed
- Experience supporting seniors or individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders within home care or long-term care environments
