Professional Requirements:
-Must have experience working in a school free lunch program
-Must have at least 3-5 years’ experience working as a cook in free lunch program
-High School diploma or equivalent required.
-Current Food Safety and Sanitation Certificate (May not work without)
-Fingerprint Background Clearance
Purpose Statement and Job Function:
The job of the cook/front line staff is participating in all the cooking and preparation of food items; maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition; cooking correctly and only according to USDA recipes and menus approved; and food preparation. This position requires the individual to be able to work independently and to be able to handle the entire kitchen and cooking. We have one cook/manger per school. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 1% sitting, 19% walking, and 80% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
