We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Production Assistant to join our shop floor and help keep our production workflow running smoothly.
Position Overview
The Production Assistant plays a vital hands-on role in our daily operations. You will support our press operators, embroidery technicians, and finishing team to ensure orders are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule. This is an entry-level to mid-level shop role perfect for someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in hands-on work, and pays close attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Production & Preparation:
- Unbox, sort, count, and stage blank apparel and print substrates against work orders/packing slips.
- Stage orders, threads, and production supplies for press operators and embroidery techs.
- Press & Shop Floor Support:
- Catch, offload, and inspect garments coming off presses.
- Assist embroidery technicians with hooping garments, trimming backing, and clearing threads.
- Load and unload signage, vinyl, and promotional materials through secondary finishing stations.
- Quality Control & Finishing:
- Inspect finished products for ink curing, placement, thread gaps, stains, or other defects.
- Fold, tag, bag, bundle, and box completed orders according to job specifications.
- Prepare orders for shipping or local pickup, ensuring correct labeling and paperwork.
- Shop Maintenance & Safety:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment across the production floor.
- Clean equipment and work tables at the end of each run or shift.
- Assist with inventory counts of shop supplies and blank garments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in screen printing, embroidery, manufacturing, warehouse, or sign shops is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail regarding color matching, garment placement, counting, and quality checking.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 40–50 lbs regularly throughout an 8-hour shift in a light industrial warehouse environment.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Strong work ethic with a track record of consistent attendance and timeliness.
- Team Player: Positive attitude that aligns with Big T’s core values and culture of service and team collaboration.
Schedule & Working Conditions
- Schedule: Standard shop hours (Monday – Friday, daytime hours). Occasional overtime during peak seasons.
- Environment: Production facility/shop floor with exposure to heat, machinery noise, and mild chemical cleaners (standard safety gear provided).
