Job Title: Properties Maintenance Assistant
Job Type: Full-time, Part-time
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Including Rockford and Cedar Spring)
Our small business specializing in residential and commercial remodeling and maintenance is currently seeking a Properties Maintenance Assistant to join our dynamic and growing team. This role is ideal for a motivated, hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about property maintenance. You will work closely with the Properties Maintenance Manager and other team members to ensure smooth, efficient operations of our properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in ensuring that all facilities and building systems are maintained and functional.
- Perform basic fixes, including repairing broken locks, patching walls, and other general maintenance.
- Support in managing project supplies and deliveries in collaboration with the construction builder.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, installing small appliances, and repairing minor equipment.
- Check control panels, plumbing systems, and electrical wiring to identify and address issues.
- Inspect and troubleshoot systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and ventilation.
- Ensure the functionality of safety systems, including fire alarms and emergency equipment.
- Maintain outdoor areas by mowing the lawn, removing snow, and other landscaping tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with contractors and construction workers during renovation projects.
- Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Manager to report issues and provide updates.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with hand and electrical tools (minimum 1 year preferred).
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to follow up on project results, updates, and deadlines.
- Ability to assist with coordinating deliveries and supplies from vendors.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform hands-on tasks.
- Experience in a construction-related field (1 year minimum preferred).
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Punctual, self-motivated, and willing to learn.
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday, with weekends as needed,
- Available to join meetings every other Saturday afternoon.
Work Setting:
- Construction sites and property locations (in person)
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with property maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Quick problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
