Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery for a 13-week travel nursing contract in Shreveport, Louisiana. This position is ideal for an L&D Registered Nurse with strong experience caring for antepartum and laboring patients in a fast-paced maternal and newborn care environment.
The L&D RN will provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Candidates should be confident with fetal monitoring, labor inductions, C-section circulation, OB triage, postpartum hemorrhage management, and high-risk obstetric care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery, antepartum, and laboring patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal conditions and recognize changes requiring immediate intervention.
- Perform OB ED and obstetric triage assessments.
- Manage labor inductions using Pitocin, Cytotec, and balloon induction methods.
- Administer and monitor Magnesium Sulfate therapy.
- Circulate during Cesarean/C-section procedures.
- Provide care for patients experiencing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH).
- Perform blood administration according to clinical protocols.
- Utilize the Jada System/device as appropriate for postpartum hemorrhage management.
- Provide couplet care and postpartum support.
- Perform fetal heart monitoring and accurately document maternal and fetal assessments.
- Collaborate with OB/GYN providers, physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to obstetric emergencies.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow established nursing standards.
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to practice in Louisiana.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience.
- Experience caring for antepartum and laboring patients.
- Experience with OB triage and fetal monitoring.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.

- BLS – Basic Life Support
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- NIHSS – National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program

- Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
- Weekend Rotation: Every Other Weekend
- On-Call: 2 shifts per month, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Floating: Postpartum; couplet care may be required
- Orientation: Hospital orientation followed by 2 unit-based shifts
