The Processing Associate is responsible for performing various tasks within the Raw Food Processing department, including injecting, stuffing, grinding, and general preparation of meat products before the cooking stage.
1st Shift - 5:30am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday plus weekends as needed, based on production demands.
$17-$18 per hour based on experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary job duties and responsibilities include:
- Assemble and disassemble all machinery in their assigned area
- Keep floors clear of excess raw materials, boxes, bags, strapping material, and any other debris
- Follow all GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and all SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards while working
- Follows departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Sort food items according to their type
- Measure, weigh, and count products and materials
- Load materials and products into package processing equipment
- Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met
- Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools
- Receive, inspect, and stage raw meat or other ingredients for processing according to company standards and safety regulations
- Use grinders, stuffers, injectors, mixers, and other equipment to perform primary meat processing tasks
- Assist as needed with weighing, measuring, and mixing raw ingredients as specified by production guidelines or recipes
- Observe raw products for signs of foreign material, or inconsistencies and report issues promptly.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment before, during, and after shifts in compliance with food safety standards
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support the transition of raw products into the next stage of food processing by ensuring proper handling and storage
- Work closely with other associates and supervisors to ensure a timely and efficient production flow
- Respond to changes in production schedules or priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job include:
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Understanding of date code formats, label creation system and application of labels preferred
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid hand and eye coordination
Working Conditions
- An environment that is wet or damp with temperatures below 40 degrees
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Exposure to industrial machinery, elevated noise levels, and food waste
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate machinery and tools
- Comfortable working in a noisy and sometimes dusty environment
- Moderate hand/wrist flexions and gripping pressure (repetitive motion)
- Ability to flex/grip wrist/hands frequently
- Ability to continually push/pull/lift up 50 pounds frequently if required
- Must lift up to 50 pounds above shoulder level, required
- Constant stand/walk for 8 hour+ shift, required
