Robotics Competition Coach (VEX V5 / VRC) – Part-Time
Seeking experienced VEX V5, VRC, FTC, or FRC students/coaches to mentor competitive robotics teams
Location: Sugar Land, TX
Pay: $15–$45 per hour (based on experience)
About Us
Magikid Robotics Lab – Sugar Land is a growing robotics education center focused on STEM education and competitive robotics. We currently offer VEX IQ and VEX V5 programs and are expanding our VRC competition teams for the upcoming season.
We are seeking experienced robotics competitors, mentors, and coaches who are passionate about helping students develop engineering, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through robotics competitions.
Responsibilities
- Coach VEX V5 / VRC competition teams
- Guide students in robot design, building, testing, and iteration
- Assist with strategy development and game analysis
- Support programming, autonomous routines, and debugging
- Mentor students in engineering notebooks and competition interviews
- Prepare students for local, state, and championship-level events
- Attend practices and selected weekend competitions
- Encourage teamwork, leadership, and independent problem-solving

Highly Preferred
- Former VRC, VEX U, FTC, or FRC team leaders
- Experience with Onshape, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar CAD software
- Experience with VEXcode, C++, Python, Java, or related programming languages
- Experience attending state, national, or world championship events
Schedule
- Primarily evenings and weekends
- Competition season runs approximately August through March/May
- Flexible scheduling available
Compensation
- $15–$45 per hour depending on experience and coaching ability
- Additional compensation may be available for competition travel and weekend events
