Outside Sales Representative – Christmas Lighting

SEASONAL | $500/Week Base + 8% Commission | Potential to Earn $20,000–$35,000+ During the Season
We’re looking for a strong outside salesperson and closer to join Griswold’s Christmas Lights for the upcoming Christmas season.
This is a short, high-opportunity selling season. Training will begin in late September, with the primary sales season running through October and November and generally wrapping up around the end of November or early December.
If you’re good at sales, this is an opportunity to make serious money in a relatively short period of time.
The Opportunity
- We generate the leads.
- We schedule the estimates.
- You’re not spending your day cold calling or knocking doors.
- Your job is to meet the homeowner, understand what they want, build the proposal, and close the sale.
Our projects generally start around $2,000, with an average ticket of approximately $3,200 last season. It’s common to present proposals ranging from $3,000 to $10,000+ depending on the property and design.
Last season, with the owner handling sales, we generated approximately $350,000 in new sales alone.
We’re growing and looking for a salesperson who can help us capitalize on the opportunities we’re generating.
Compensation
- $500 per week base
- 8% commission on collected first-year sales
- Potential to earn $20,000–$35,000+ during the season
- Qualified appointments provided
- Uncapped commission
Your actual earnings will depend on your sales performance. There is no cap on what a strong closer can earn.
What You’ll Do
- Run pre-scheduled residential estimates
- Meet homeowners at their property
- Help customers design their Christmas lighting display
- Measure and build accurate proposals
- Present pricing and options
- Present and sell our multi-year agreement option
- Handle objections and ask for the sale
- Follow up with open estimates
- Maintain accurate customer information and notes in our CRM
Who We’re Looking For
- We’re not looking for an order taker.
- We’re looking for someone who is confident, competitive, personable, organized, dependable, and comfortable asking for the sale.
- You should be able to walk onto a property, build rapport with the homeowner, confidently present a $3,000–$10,000+ proposal, handle objections, and ask for the business.
- Previous outside or in-home sales experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience selling roofing, HVAC, windows, solar, pools, landscaping, remodeling, pest control, or other home services is a plus.
Vehicle Requirement
You will use your own vehicle to travel between appointments.
Because you’ll be representing Griswold’s Christmas Lights at customers’ homes, you must have a reliable, clean, and presentable vehicle.
Important: This Is a Seasonal Position
- Training will begin in late September.
- The primary sales opportunity is concentrated into October and November, with the season generally ending around the last week of November to first week of December.
- This is not a year-round sales position.
- The short season is also what creates the opportunity: a lot of business packed into a relatively short amount of time.
