This exciting role offers the opportunity to operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, across extensive over-the-road routes. As an owner operator, you’ll be responsible for delivering freight efficiently and safely while adhering to all federal and state transportation regulations. Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight using proper manual handling techniques, maintaining cargo integrity and safety standards.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes, avoid delays, and comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Transport various types of freight including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (Hazmat), dangerous goods, flatbed loads, and tanker shipments in compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Manage truck loading and unloading processes efficiently while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations for safety and security.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate deliveries, report issues, or delays promptly.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving in various environments.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures and safety standards for freight transportation.
