Position Overview
The Counter Sales Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service at the sales counter while supporting order processing, will-call preparation, and basic warehouse operations. This role plays a key part in delivering a positive customer experience and driving counter sales growth in a safe, organized, and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers promptly and professionally at the counter, by phone, and via email
- Create and process sales orders, transfers, and RGAs
- Service walk-in customers and support small project pricing and order processing
- Effectively quote, place, assemble, and process customer orders
- Review completed orders to ensure accuracy and proper picking
- Proactively track orders in the system to improve customer communication and efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized counter and warehouse area; ensure equipment is properly maintained
- Support counter sales growth by building relationships and expanding the customer base
- Perform general warehouse duties including stocking, pulling will-calls, and inventory preparation
- Safely operate equipment required for daily operations
- Make occasional deliveries as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Motivated, driven professional with a desire to contribute to business growth and team success
- Product and application knowledge, including the ability to read manufacturer catalogs
- Proficiency with data entry, web browsers, and internet search tools
- Ability to perform basic math calculations (markup, discounts, quantities, etc.)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Prior customer service experience required
- Electrical industry experience strongly preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to work in a typical warehouse environment
- Willingness and ability to learn company systems and warehouse operations
- Clean driving record may be required
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow
