Position: PT Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – DOT Medical Examiner
Location: On-site at an Industrial Facility
Schedule/Hours: PT, weekdays only 6:30 AM to 3:00pm. Lunch hour provided.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, professional Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examinations at an industrial client site. This is a part-time position in a well-organized occupational health setting. All required medical equipment, supplies, forms, and documentation tools are provided.
The ideal candidate is customer-service oriented, efficient, and comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards of medical documentation and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform DOT/FMCSA medical examinations in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Complete required medical documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Determine medical qualification status for commercial drivers based on FMCSA standards.
- Educate examinees regarding certification requirements and follow-up recommendations when indicated.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Communicate professionally with company representatives and clinic management.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and submitted promptly.
Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
- Certified Medical Examiner (CME) through the FMCSA National Registry (preferred or willing to obtain before providing DOT examinations).
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, family practice, internal medicine, or employee health is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing exceptional customer service.
Work Environment
- Clean, professional medical clinic located within an industrial facility.

- No evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.

Preferred Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
- Comfortable interacting with employees in an industrial environment.
- Prior DOT/FMCSA medical examiner experience is a plus but not required.
