Summary
Supervises and provides professional guidance and oversight to a team of speech and language clinicians; provides guidance on procedures for eligibility/dismissal/Individualized Education Program (IEP) criteria following Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) guidelines and special education regulations.
Qualifications

Master's degree.

Four (4) years of experience in speech-language pathology, supervision or administration, or equivalent education and experience.

Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.

Speech-language pathologist license issued or deemed equivalent from the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

Knowledge of the procedures, practices, research techniques, and training methods for speech-language disorders.

Knowledge of the FCPS organizational structure and the goals of the specialty to which assigned.

Skill in planning, implementing, and assessing program objectives.

Ability to develop, implement, and/or lead in staff development and training activities.

Ability to supervise and evaluate both instructional and support staff.

Excellent human relations skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Postgraduate educational license.
-
Endorsement in administration and supervision PreK-12.
Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Supervises, provides professional guidance, and oversight to a team of speech and language clinicians.

Provides guidance on procedures for eligibility/dismissal/IEP criteria following FCPS guidelines and special education regulations.

Interprets and facilitates implementation of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding the provision of services for students with speech and language impairments.

Facilitates and leads team meetings.

Accurately reports and interprets program data.

Assesses performance of personnel consistent with division policies, provides formal and informal feedback, and maintains accurate assessment records.

Supports the selection of appropriate service delivery models that allow the management of the student caseload that meets individual student needs in the academic environment while ensuring that clinician time is maximized to benefit all students.

Works with appropriate staff to identify and apply effective techniques and methods that foster resolution of problems.

Collaborates with principals and other school personnel to resolve conflicts at school level related to challenges by families, teachers, or advocates for specific methods, service delivery models, and interpersonal conflicts.

Arranges independent educational evaluations; administers testing/evaluations/assessments upon request of school and/or families.

Observes, consults, and assists in the design of appropriate instruction for selected challenging students with unique needs in articulation, oral motor, fluency, pragmatics, syntax, semantics, and voice disorders.

Selects, procures, and assigns instructional resources in collaboration with the manager, communications disorders.

Consults, models, and provides resource support related to therapeutic interventions and integration of services in support of the curriculum.

Maintains open and continuous communication with families, students, staff, and community by responding to phone calls, e-mails, and written correspondence in a timely and effective manner.

Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
