Duties
- Prepare and submit medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review patient records to accurately assign ICD-10/ICD-9 diagnosis codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for proper billing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes, ensuring resolution while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients in both languages to clarify billing issues or discrepancies.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with healthcare claims management standards and legal requirements.
- Stay updated on health insurance policies, coding changes, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement rates.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools alongside specialized billing software to generate reports, track claims status, and manage accounts efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare office administration with a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices.
- Familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems, CPT coding procedures, DRG classifications, and healthcare claims management is essential.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes, medical collections, and patient account management will set you apart.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in both languages—fluency in English plus another language is required.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medical records and billing documentation.
- Ability to adapt quickly to evolving healthcare regulations and technology updates within a fast-paced environment.
