Job Description
Summary
The primary role of an excavator is operating heavy construction equipment. Work primarily with excavator, which are used to dig and remove rocks and soil but also may be responsible for operating related machinery such as forklifts, bulldozers, and dump trucks.
- Safe operation of excavator/backhoe/forklift
- Handling and/or moving material
- Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance.
- Identify, report and correct hazards
- Understand grade and elevations
- Be able to work safely on a complex and busy site
- Manage the day to day operations
- Maintain a good attendance and safety record
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the work environment.
- Must be familiar with OSHA requirements
Required Qualifications
- Current NCCCO crane certification
- 5 years of heavy construction equipment operation experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
- Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal.
