QA Laboratory Technicians - 4093
Overview: We are seeking QA Laboratory Technicians to support Quality Assurance operations at a milk manufacturing plant in Commerce, CA. The role will support quality testing for milk and yogurt products and is ideal for candidates with experience in microbiology, laboratory testing, plating, and food manufacturing. The strongest candidates will have hands-on microbiology and food laboratory experience, particularly with plating, Petrifilm, environmental/equipment swabbing, and ATP testing. Dairy experience with milk or yogurt products is highly desirable, but candidates with strong transferable laboratory and microbiology experience may also be considered.
Shift: 3AM - 11:30AM (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) with Off-Days on Monday and Tuesday.
Responsibilities:
- Perform microbiological testing of milk and yogurt products.
- Collect and process samples for laboratory testing.
- Perform plating and reading of microbiological samples.
- Conduct environmental and equipment swabbing.
- Perform ATP testing on equipment and production areas.
- Accurately document and record laboratory test results.
- Perform data entry and maintain QA records.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, food safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Follow QC hold procedures for products that are out of specification.
- Perform laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor test results and identify quality trends or deficiencies.
- Communicate quality issues to supervisors and management.
- Support continuous improvement and maintain 5S standards.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and follow sanitation and workplace safety procedures.
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related science preferred.
- Relevant laboratory experience may substitute for a degree.
- 2 year of laboratory or microbiology experience preferred for candidates with a degree (not mandatory on a degree).
- Experience with microbiological testing strongly preferred.
- Plating experience highly relevant.
- Petrifilm experience preferred.
- Experience with environmental or equipment swabbing preferred.
- Experience with ATP testing preferred.
- Food manufacturing or food industry experience preferred.
- Dairy experience, especially milk or yogurt, is a strong plus.
- Candidates with general laboratory experience and transferable microbiology/testing skills may also be considered.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer programs.
- Strong documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in cold and loud manufacturing environments.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
