Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate NICU Registered Nurse for a 13 week assignment to provide specialized neonatal intensive care. This role involves delivering comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to critically ill newborns in a high-acuity environment. Duties
- Perform detailed neonatal assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological monitoring, ensuring early detection of changes in patient status.
- Administer medications and treatments with precision, including IV infusions, tube feedings, and medication injections, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Manage ventilator support and respiratory care for neonatal patients requiring advanced airway management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each neonate’s needs.
- Monitor laboratory results, interpret diagnostic evaluations such as sonography or laboratory tests, and adjust nursing interventions accordingly.
- Provide family education on neonatal care practices, including developmental support and discharge planning.
- Maintain strict infection control standards and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterizations, lumbar punctures, or other invasive interventions as required.
- Support the emotional well-being of families through compassionate communication and education during critical care situations.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (NNCC).
- Proficiency in advanced neonatal procedures including ventilator management, IV insertion, and aseptic technique.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of neonatal physiology, pharmacology related to neonatal care, and infection control protocols.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools like sonography or laboratory testing relevant to neonatal assessment.
- Excellent critical thinking skills coupled with effective communication abilities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
