About the Opportunity
Studywave is looking for an experienced AP Biology teacher, tutor, graduate student, or biology educator to help create engaging, short-form educational videos for an AP Biology course.
The videos will break complex AP Biology topics into clear, visually engaging lessons that are approximately 1–2.5 minutes long. Creators will teach using a digital whiteboard, handwritten notes, diagrams, and voice narration.
The goal is to make challenging AP Biology material easier to understand while maintaining the academic accuracy and depth students need for the AP exam.
Primary Application Requirement: Submit a Demo Video
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must submit a short demo video.
The demo is the most important part of the application and will be used to evaluate:
- Teaching clarity
- Knowledge of AP Biology
- Ability to simplify complex concepts
- Handwriting and diagram quality
- Voice, pacing, and presentation style
- Ability to create engaging short-form lessons
The demo does not need to have professional editing or production quality. We are primarily interested in your teaching style and how effectively you explain the material.
Selected applicants will receive instructions for completing a short paid demo based on a specific AP Biology topic and reference lesson.
Responsibilities
- Create short AP Biology lessons, generally 1–2.5 minutes each
- Explain concepts clearly and accurately using a digital whiteboard
- Create handwritten notes, labeled diagrams, and visual explanations
- Follow provided reference materials, lesson outlines, and formatting guidelines
- Break longer AP Biology lessons into a sequence of focused videos
- Incorporate feedback and revise lessons when necessary
- Maintain a consistent teaching and visual style throughout the course
- Meet agreed-upon content deadlines
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong understanding of AP Biology or college-level biology
- Experience teaching or tutoring biology
- Familiarity with the College Board AP Biology curriculum
- Ability to explain difficult concepts in a concise and approachable way
- Clear speaking voice and strong communication skills
- Legible digital handwriting and the ability to create biological diagrams
- Comfortable recording a screen and voice narration
- Reliable, responsive, and able to work independently
Current or former AP Biology teachers are strongly encouraged to apply. We will also consider biology graduate students, medical students, experienced tutors, and other candidates with exceptional biology knowledge and teaching ability.
Video Format
Videos will generally include:
- Vertical, short-form video formatting
- Approximately 1–2.5 minutes per lesson
- A clean digital whiteboard or light background
- Handwritten explanations and diagrams
- Voice narration
- Minimal reliance on stock images or complicated animation
- A direct, engaging teaching style rather than a traditional long-form lecture
How to Apply
Please submit:
- A brief description of your AP Biology, biology teaching, or tutoring experience
- Your availability over the next several weeks
- The device or software you would use to record digital whiteboard lessons
- Any relevant teaching, tutoring, or educational video samples
After reviewing your application, qualified applicants will be invited to complete a short paid demo video using a provided AP Biology topic and reference lesson.
Your demo video will be the primary factor used to determine whether you are selected for the full content creation project.
