Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical coding, terminology, and management practices within a healthcare setting. The MDS Coordinator will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to assess patient needs and facilitate appropriate care plans.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to gather necessary data for the Minimum Data Set (MDS) documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate coding and documentation of patient conditions and treatments.
- Monitor compliance with CMS Quality Measures and other quality metrics to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Maintain resident Care Plans and schedules.
- Provide education and training on MDS processes, medical terminology, and coding practices to staff as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and updates.
- Utilize electronic health record systems, such as Point Click Care, for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations related to inpatient care, hospice care, and trauma center operations.
Qualifications
- Prior MDS Experience in a Skilled Nursing setting.
- Knowledge of CMS Quality Measures and iQIES system.
- MDS Certification a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
