Job Summary
Peddlers Junction Athens is seeking an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Retail Store Assistant Manager to help lead our store team and oversee daily operations.
In this role, you will support and supervise employees, maintain store standards, and help create a welcoming shopping experience for every customer. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who communicates well, stays organized, and enjoys motivating a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with overseeing daily store operations and sales-floor activities.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate retail associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Train and support new employees during orientation and onboarding.
- Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
- Help coordinate employee duties and shift responsibilities.
- Complete store opening and closing procedures.
- Operate and oversee point-of-sale systems, registers, and cash-handling procedures.
- Assist with register counts, deposits, and resolving cash discrepancies.
- Respond to customer questions, concerns, and service issues in a professional manner.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming store environment.
- Ensure employees follow store policies, safety standards, and operating procedures.
- Communicate store updates, expectations, and priorities clearly to employees.
- Support store leadership with scheduling, operational needs, and other assigned duties.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory, leadership, or management experience in retail, customer service, or a sales environment.
- Experience supervising employees and managing daily shift responsibilities.
- Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills.
- Experience operating point-of-sale systems and handling cash.
- Basic retail math skills, including cash handling, pricing, and register reconciliation.
- Experience training or onboarding employees.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain effective during busy periods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to motivate employees and promote teamwork.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus but are not required.
