Overview
The Coordinator of Emergency Preparedness at Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee, Illinois, is responsible for developing and implementing a coordinated response plan for potential emergency situations across the Riverside Healthcare System. This role ensures compliance with all emergency preparedness and disaster response regulatory requirements. The Coordinator acts as a liaison between Riverside Healthcare and local and regional disaster response teams, ensuring that the standards of practice for patient care during emergencies are upheld. This position also involves monitoring, updating, and innovating emergency preparedness policies and procedures to align with the latest regulations and best practices. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
Essential Duties
- Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness and disaster response plans across the Riverside Healthcare System.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all emergency preparedness and disaster response activities meet federal, state, regional, and local regulatory requirements.
- Liaison Role: Act as the primary liaison between Riverside Healthcare and local/regional disaster response teams, facilitating communication and coordination during emergencies.
- Policy and Procedure Management: Regularly review and update emergency preparedness policies and procedures to ensure they are current and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Emergency Preparedness Committee Coordination: Facilitate the activities of the Riverside Emergency Preparedness Committee, including organizing meetings, and completing annual reports and Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs).
- Disaster Preparedness Exercises: Coordinate disaster preparedness exercises in collaboration with community resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Grant Management: Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal grant rules and requirements, ensuring adherence to all guidelines.
- Training and Education: Provide training and education to Riverside employees on emergency preparedness and disaster management, ensuring all staff are equipped to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Drill Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and evaluate emergency drills within all Riverside facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Hazardous Materials Courses: Facilitate and coordinate Hazmat courses in collaboration with regional partners and healthcare system resources.
- Equipment and Supply Management: Maintain all emergency preparedness equipment and supplies as required by regulatory agencies.
- Operational and Financial Management: Oversee the operational and financial aspects of emergency preparedness and disaster management within the Riverside Healthcare System.
- Committee Representation: Serve as Riversides representative on state, local, regional, and Riverside committees related to emergency preparedness.
- Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP): Create HSEEP-compliant After Action Reports for all real and planned events.
Non-essential Duties
- Meeting Participation: Attend and participate in Region 7 EMS Advisory and Emergency Preparedness meetings.
- Innovation and Idea Contribution: Bring new ideas and innovations to enhance emergency preparedness and disaster management within Riverside Healthcare.
- Moulage and Disaster Drills: Demonstrate knowledge and skills in disaster planning, moulage, and disaster drills.
Responsibilities
Required Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a healthcare-related field, including emergency preparedness, safety, and/or regulatory compliance
Required Licensure/Education
- Completion of the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) course within 6 months of hire.
- Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses ISO 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 3 months of hire, and ISO 300 and 400 within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Education
- An Associate's degree or higher in emergency management or a related field is preferred.
