Job Description
Scope of Position: Neurodiagnostic services encompass all technical functions with the Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), Evoked Potential (EP), and Intraoperative Monitoring areas. The laboratories are diagnostic areas of the Department of Neurology for patients with suspected neurologic injury and/or disease. The EMU is the inpatient diagnostic area for patients with suspected epilepsy.
The EEG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with 24 hour, 7 day per week on-call service. The EMG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EMU is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Position Summary
Under the medical direction of a physician, and the general supervision of Director, the Lead Electoneurodiagnostic Technologist performs a wide variety of electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury and disease and monitors patients for seizure activity. The lead technologist is responsible for preparation of the patient for testing and the collection of computerized information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results in EEG, EMG, EMU and EP. Responsible for coordinating daily work flow, daily assignments, patient flow, and provides support to the operation of the department. The Lead provides all quality assessment activities for the site, in addition to the maintenance of accreditation of the site, under the direction of management. Provides assistance in assessing staff performance for annual appraisals, as well as orienting new staff to the department.
Minimum Education Required
Three years (3) experience in END technology.
Registry in one END technology and/or Associates degree in END technology.
Must be proficient in another area of END Technology as described above.
