Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:
Our Public Works Department is hiring an Electrician. This position will be filled as an Electrician I or Electrician II depending on qualifications.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Test, repair, install and maintain various types of electrical, fire alarm, fire protection, emergency power and life safety systems
May supervise and/or train subordinate personnel
Provide cost estimates on small renovations and additions for various departments
Proficient as a customer service provider utilizing techniques and methods to include the latest electronics
Maintain adequate inventory and maintenance logs for various systems
Collaborate with outside contractors through project completions, assuring compliance with codes and contractual obligations
Determine materials and/or equipment necessary
Qualified candidates will have experience which demonstrates:
Knowledge of electrical, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, fire protection sprinkler, various types of special hazard fire protection systems, elevators, escalators, generators, uninterruptable power supply systems, surge protection devices, engineered lightning protection systems, audio/visual and master clock systems
Knowledge of national, state and local electrical, fire protection, and life safety system codes
Ability to administer, enforce and comply with OSHA rules and regulations including daily wear/use of personal protective equipment including arc flash rated uniforms and suits

Minimum Requirements:
Electrician I Minimum Qualifications: High school or GED plus two (2) years’ experience in fields such as electrical that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Electrician II Minimum Qualifications: High school or GED plus two (2) years of experience in fields such as electrical that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination. Successful completion of pre-employment physical. May require a Commercial drivers license.
