Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice team. Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility using electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance portals
- Obtain prior authorization for dental procedures by communicating with managed care organizations and insurance carriers
- Accurately code dental procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes such as ICD-9 and ICD-10
- Process claims efficiently, ensuring compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resubmitting or appealing as necessary to maximize reimbursement
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure all documentation aligns with medical billing standards and insurance requirements
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and payment options to patients when needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental office administration, dental office management
- Strong knowledge of dental insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures
- Familiarity with medical coding systems including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) management systems, Dentrix Ascend
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
- Ability to handle sensitive dental records with discretion while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies
- Knowledge of dental terminology related to dental procedures and treatments
- Creating accurate new insurance profiles and attaching correct fee schedules
