Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile Dispatch Route Planner to oversee our daily delivery logistics. You will balance routing strategy with active fleet support. In addition to daily dispatch tasks, this role requires a hands-on professional ready to manage our local yard by safely moving trailers in and out of dock doors, and stepping in to drive external delivery routes in our Non-CDL trucks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Route Planning & Dispatch
- Design and optimize daily delivery routes for maximum efficiency and fuel economy.
- Utilize routing software and GPS systems to navigate around delays.
- Communicate with drivers, relay delivery instructions, and handle schedule disruptions.
Yard Jockey & Trailer Switching Duties
- Safely maneuver, spot, and switch trailers in and out of loading dock doors within the yard.
- Inspect trailers for visible damage and verify lock/seal numbers before or after docking.
Fleet Support
- Safely operate Non-CDL commercial vehicles (box trucks or straight trucks under 26,000 lbs. GVWR).
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Load and unload products safely at delivery destinations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Driver’s License: Valid standard Driver’s License with an exceptionally clean driving record.
- Yard/Switching Experience: Prior experience as a yard jockey, hostler, or moving trailers in tight spaces.
- DOT Medical Card: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs., and climb in/out of trucks frequently.
- Logistics Experience: 2+ years of experience.
PAY is commensurate with experience.
