The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District is seeking a compassionate, flexible, and highly qualified full-time Districtwide Floater School Nurse to support the health and wellness needs of students throughout the District. This is a one-year appointment for the 2026–2027 school year.
The successful candidate will have a designated home-base school as their primary assignment and will provide nursing coverage at other RCS school buildings as needed to support absences, staffing needs, and continuity of student health services. When not needed for coverage elsewhere, the nurse will work from their assigned home-base building. This temporary position will follow the 10-month school schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a designated home-base school while providing nursing coverage at other District buildings as assigned and needed.
- Provide school nursing services and coverage across RCS schools to support absences, staffing needs, and continuity of care.
- Assess student illnesses and injuries and provide appropriate nursing care, first aid, and emergency response.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, parent/guardian authorization, District procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Support students with chronic health conditions, allergies, diabetes, seizure disorders, and other individual healthcare needs.
- Implement and follow student emergency care plans and individualized health plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and nursing documentation.
- Communicate appropriately with parents/guardians, healthcare providers, administrators, and school staff regarding student health needs.
- Assist with mandated health screenings and other school health requirements.
- Collaborate with building nurses to promote continuity of care when providing coverage in different schools.
- Respond effectively and calmly to medical emergencies.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable District policies and state and federal requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required.
- Current CPR/AED certification required.
- Ability to work effectively with students across multiple grade levels and school settings.
- Flexibility and willingness to provide coverage at different school buildings based on District needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively as a member of the RCS student support team.
