Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Weekday Day Shift Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Supervise and support clients during daily activities, ensuring safety and engagement throughout the day
- Implement behavior intervention plans utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques to promote positive behaviors
- Assist with intake assessments, ongoing data collection, and documentation of client progress using electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Administer medication accurately following prescribed protocols and document medication administration in medical records
- Monitor vital signs and perform first aid or CPR when necessary to ensure immediate health needs are addressed promptly
- Use crisis management and de-escalation techniques to effectively respond to behavioral or emotional crises, maintaining a calm and safe environment
- Collaborate with social workers, mental health professionals, and family members to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each client’s needs
Skills
- Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Knowledge of mental health conditions such as PTSD and substance use disorders, along with addiction counseling practices
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical documentation, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR management for accurate data entry and record keeping
- Skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and client communication to ensure safety and promote positive outcomes
- Ability to perform behavioral health assessments, collect data accurately, and support clients through behavior management strategies
- First aid and CPR certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified
