Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered Dyslexia Teacher to provide targeted instruction to students identified with dyslexia or related reading difficulties. The Dyslexia Teacher will deliver evidence-based, multisensory instruction in alignment with the Texas Dyslexia Handbook, ensuring students build strong literacy foundations and make measurable academic progress.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct dyslexia intervention services using state-approved, multisensory structured language programs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to identify students in need of screening, support, or accommodations.
- Develop and maintain individualized intervention plans and progress monitoring documentation for each student served.
- Conduct dyslexia screenings, contribute to 504 or IEP meetings as needed, and assist in eligibility determination.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly.
- Provide small-group or individual instruction based on student needs.
- Maintain accurate service logs, documentation, and data for compliance and program evaluation.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and instructional plans.
- Participate in professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Texas dyslexia laws and best practices.
- Support campus-wide literacy initiatives and staff training related to dyslexia awareness and accommodations.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required).
- Experience teaching reading or providing dyslexia intervention
Preferred:
- Completed dyslexia training or certification in an approved dyslexia intervention program
- Special Education or Reading Specialist certification
- Experience working in charter schools or diverse urban school settings
- Knowledge of the state policies
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
