Location: Must be based in Kansas City or Springfield
This position requires significant travel between SD 8 and SD 30 during the 2026 election cycle, including some evenings and weekends during peak voter engagement periods.
The Political Field Director will have the authority to discipline, suspend, assign, direct and reward employees. They shall evaluate and train employees and will own decisions regarding hiring, firing, layoff, promotions and other personnel actions. This person is a critical member of the campaign leadership team and is involved in strategic and operational decision-making regarding the statewide electoral program and coordinated independent expenditure efforts.
General Administration
- Turn in timesheets, mileage, receipts and reimbursement requests weekly
- Maintain a healthy and effective workspace and team culture
- Maintain accurate field, compliance and voter contact records in VAN, Scale to Win, and other campaign systems
- Ensure all campaign reporting, budgeting and data tracking systems are updated regularly
- Maintain files and documentation related to field operations, staffing, compliance and vendor coordination
Supervision - Field Staff
Manage and supervise a statewide paid voter engagement team including:
- Compliance staff
- Data and targeting staff
- Regional Field Leads
- Paid canvassers and temporary field staff
Develop and oversee weekly work plans and turf goals that support overall voter contact, persuasion and turnout goals in Missouri Senate Districts 8 and 30 and additional targeted legislative races.
The Political Field Director is the ultimate manager of the voter engagement program and is responsible for ensuring staff and contractors deliver toward field, persuasion and turnout outcomes.
As often as needed to move the program, the Political Field Director with support from the board, a general consultant, and the IE Alignment Director will:
- Conduct regular check-ins with regional field leads and department staff to assess progress toward goals, troubleshoot challenges and ensure accountability
- Review voter contact metrics, canvass quality, data integrity and staffing performance
- Coordinate with compliance and data staff to ensure adherence to campaign finance, reporting and voter contact requirements
- Provide coaching, development and onboarding for all field staff and temporary canvassers
- Build a strong culture of accountability, collaboration and political urgency across the field program
Field Program and Electoral Campaigns
Provide strategic leadership for the statewide paid voter engagement program focused on Missouri Senate Districts 8 and 30 and coordinated targeted legislative races.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing voter contact plans including door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, text messaging and relational organizing
- Managing regional turf strategy, staffing plans and voter universes in collaboration with data staff
- Overseeing paid canvass operations including hiring, training, scheduling, quality control and retention
- Coordinating with campaign leadership and consultants on persuasion, absentee voting and turnout strategy
- Managing field program budgets, projections and reporting
- Providing regular reporting on field metrics, voter contact outcomes and staffing needs
Independent Expenditure Coordination
Represent the organization at the statewide Independent Expenditure (IE) table and coordinate closely with coalition partners and consultants to align:
- Field strategy
- Paid communications
- Mail programs
- Digital outreach
- Targeting and voter universes
- Message coordination within legal compliance requirements
Help position the organization as a key strategic partner in Missouri’s 2026 coordinated electoral landscape.
Coordinate regularly with:
- Legislative campaign staff
- IE partners
- Pollsters and media consultants
- Labor and community coalition partners
- Civic engagement organizations
Data and Reporting
- Maintain accurate voter contact reporting and accountability systems
- Ensure all field data is entered, cleaned and analyzed regularly
- Work closely with data staff to refine targeting and optimize field performance
- Produce regular reports for senior leadership, funders and coalition partners regarding program progress and outcomes
- Organize post-election evaluation and reporting processes
Leadership Development
- Develop strong regional leadership among field leads and top-performing canvass staff
- Coach staff on voter engagement best practices, leadership growth and campaign execution
- Conduct regular debriefs after canvasses, events and mobilizations to strengthen program effectiveness
- Support organizers and staff in building long-term political leadership infrastructure beyond the election cycle
Fundraising and Program Sustainability
- Support grant reporting and funder updates related to voter engagement programs
- Provide field data, stories and metrics for fundraising and communications materials
Pay: $10,000.00 per month
