Summary
DataPath Inc. is seeking a junior to mid-level Mechanical Engineer (Systems) to support the program at Aberdeen Proving Ground and Belcamp, Maryland.
This position supports the mechanical engineering lifecycle of Army tactical network transport hardware, including transit case systems, shelter-mounted communications equipment, vehicle integration assemblies, and associated ground support equipment. The successful candidate will work alongside systems engineers and field support personnel to perform design analysis, configuration documentation, and hardware assessment tasks in a DoD program-of-record sustainment and modernization environment. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to a candidate with foundational mechanical engineering credentials who is looking to build a career in defense systems engineering.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical design analysis and review for tactical communications hardware, including transit cases, rack-mounted assemblies, shelter configurations, and vehicle-integration mounting solutions.

Conduct basic structural, thermal, and Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) analyses to support engineering assessments of existing and modified hardware configurations.

Develop and maintain CAD models and engineering drawings for system components and assemblies using SolidWorks and/or CATIA V5 in support of modification work orders and engineering change proposals.

Support hardware obsolescence investigations and component substitution analyses, documenting findings in engineering assessments and technical reports.

Assist senior engineers in applying MIL-STD environmental testing requirements (vibration, shock, temperature, humidity) to hardware design and modification packages.

Review vendor and subcontractor hardware documentation to verify compliance with program specifications and applicable military standards.

Contribute to Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities and technical interchange meetings (TIMs) by preparing engineering analysis summaries and supporting materials.

Maintain accurate engineering records, drawing logs, and configuration documentation in accordance with program configuration management standards.

Collaborate with logistics, field service, and test personnel to ensure mechanical designs and modifications are supportable in operational environments.

Support laboratory and depot-level hardware evaluation activities at APG facilities as required by program tasking.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in related field, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, 14 years of related experience.
- Minimum 10 Years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years in the Department of Defense contracting market of major weapon systems product development and acquisitions
