POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and reliable daily operations by maintaining facility systems, production equipment, shop tools, vehicles, trailers, building infrastructure, and related operational assets. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, completes repairs, assists with installations, and helps reduce downtime by identifying problems proactively. The technician works with limited supervision and communicates clearly with the Plant Manager and team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance tasks on machinery, conveyors, tools, trailers, vehicles, and facility assets to ensure reliable operational readiness.
Equipment Inspection: Inspect systems for wear, leaks, loose components, abnormal noise,
vibration, overheating, electrical concerns, and potential safety hazards.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose root causes and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and general building issues within scope of experience. Perform light electrical work including replacing relays, switches, sensors, and low-voltage items.
Breakdown Response: Respond promptly to work orders, maintenance requests, and urgent equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime based on plant priorities.
Facility Projects: Assist with equipment setup, moves, shop layout changes, fabrication,
welding, carpentry, and general facility or yard infrastructure improvements.
Inventory & Sourcing: Maintain spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials in a clean,
organized, and labeled condition. Support parts sourcing by identifying components and taking precise measurements.
Documentation: Accurately complete required maintenance logs, work orders, inspection
forms, and records of parts used or time spent using computer-based systems.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strictly follow all company safety policies, personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, and posted regulatory standards at all times.
- Apply rigid Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before servicing any equipment where hazardous energy may be present.
- Maintain continuous awareness of moving equipment, forklifts, vehicles, suspended loads, pinch points, and electrical hazards.
- Immediately report injuries, near-misses, unsafe plant conditions, or defective tools, and stop work if a task cannot be performed safely.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years (3-5 preferred) of hands-on mechanical, facility, or manufacturing equipment repair experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems, power tools, and diagnostic meters.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft 365 /
- Google Workspace) to process digital work orders.
- Valid driver's license; forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly stands, walks, bends, kneels, climbs, and works from various physical positions.
- Frequently uses hands and arms to handle tools, fasteners, and heavy components.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull tools and materials, utilizing mechanical lifting devices when appropriate.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments exposed to weather, dust, and machinery noise.
