Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, security officer will patrol designated areas of the facility, off-site premises and parking lots so as to provide a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and employees. Required to work rotating shifts and performs all duties assigned consistent with Facility commitment to providing quality health care services in a compassionate and a humane manner.
Qualifications: Security License current and in good standing
- Security experience not required.
- Must be organized with alertness in making decisions in an emergency.
- Tact and diplomacy required for contact with people.
- Must be able to effectively interact with all levels of staff and the public.
- Has the capacity to handle multifunction assignments.
- Must be able to deal with high pressure situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Write factual reports documenting security/safety incidents.
- Good verbal skills.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency - Some college preferred
Physical Demands: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies if this facility to work effectively with other personnel.
- Must be able to push, pull, and move things.
- Must be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

- Patrols designated building of the home, off-site premises and parking lots to maintain order and safeguard life and property of residents, visitors, and employees.
- Monitors all doorways as assigned to prevent resident elopement.
- Calls Code Yellow when an alarmed door rings indicating a resident is leaving the facility without permission.
- Will perform daily physical inspections of areas of egress and fire safety doors.
- Prepares written Incident Reports of unusual or emergency situations.
- Keeps logs and documents security events including but not limited to visitors and residents entering and exiting the facility.
- Gives routine information to patients, visitors, and employees and directs them to the proper individuals or office.
- Responsible for the enforcement of safety rules and regulations within the facility.
- Reports any fire hazards, unsafe or secured conditions to the Director of Building Services, Administrator, or Designee.
- Conducts daily safety inspections.
- Respects the resident’s rights to confidentiality at all times.
- Displays sensitivity to the needs of residents, visitors, and co-workers.
- Greets and interacts with others with consideration, courtesy, and respect.
- Communicates effectively with residents, visitors, and co-workers, in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
- Performs work duties willingly and with initiative.
- Remains calm and continue to work effectively in stressful situations.
- May have to work overtime if necessary.
- Displays friendly, helpful behavior to residents, visitors, and co-workers.

- Gives appropriate notice of absenteeism and does not abuse time off benefits.

- Receive mail and forward to Administration.
- Receive the Newspapers.
- Keep the front desk clear of staff and waiting room.
- Keep the front desk clear, in order and uncluttered.
- If at lunch when an emergency occurs, must leave your break and return to your assignment.
- Monitors parking lot for unauthorized vehicles.
- Search all bags entering facility.
- Ensure residents do not get off the elevator unescorted.
- Redirect residents back to their units.
- Maintain a clean area.
- If areas. If areas of responsibility become cluttered, the departments responsible for the clutter should be notified.
- Receive clothing entering facility that needs to be labeled.
- Notify Engineering/Housekeeping of any problems report to Front Desk.

- Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
- Assures that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed.
Attendance:
- Observes rules, policies and regulations with regard to attendance, punctuality, appearance and professional attitude as established by the facility.
Miscellaneous:
- Conforms to the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policies for patient privacy.
- Conforms to the Facility’s Corporate Compliance Program to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest.
- Conforms to the facility’s policies and procedures.
Physical:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently throughout the day.
- Must be able to assist with the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must pass Medical and Physical examination based on job qualifications, requirements and duties/responsibilities.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
