Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Housekeeper to uphold the cleanliness and sanitation standards of our healthcare or institutional facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, hygienic environment through effective cleaning practices, adherence to safety protocols, and environmental services expertise. As an integral part of our team, you will ensure that all areas are sanitized, well-maintained, and compliant with health regulations to support patient safety and overall facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and clinical spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.
- Handle chemical agents safely, following OSHA guidelines and manufacturer instructions to prevent hazards.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums to maintain high standards of floor care across various surfaces.
- Practice proper manual handling techniques, including heavy lifting and safe lifting practices, to prevent injury during the movement of supplies or equipment.
- Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control protocols.
- Restock supplies such as linens, paper products, and cleaning materials efficiently while ensuring proper storage procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to address specific sanitation needs and respond promptly to cleaning requests or emergency spills.
- Follow all safety procedures related to environmental services operations, including OSHA regulations and hospital policies.
Skills
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience within healthcare or commercial settings with a focus on environmental services.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to chemical handling, manual handling, and workplace safety practices.
- Expertise in cleaning techniques, including floor care, sanitation procedures, and infection prevention measures.
- Ability to handle chemical agents responsibly while maintaining compliance with safety guidelines.
- Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting tasks and manual handling activities required during cleaning routines.
- Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment protocols for infection control and sanitation best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
